St. Kilda Retirement Village Development
Stormwater Design and Contaminated Land Assessment
Project Description
The property located on St. Kilda Road in Cambridge was being developed into a retirement village with 98 villa units and an old aged care home.
Services Provided
Fluent Solutions was engaged to investigate and report on the history and present state of the site for possible land contamination and to design a stormwater system to meet Council’s engineering design criteria.
Specific services included:
- Site investigation
- Soil sampling
- Summary report specifying compliance with potentially contaminated site guidelines
- Design of stormwater attenuation and disposal systems
- Hydrological and Hydraulic Modelling
- Attenuation and infiltration pond sizing
- Summary report
Challenges
Control of stormwater runoff is critical in high density developments. The design of a disposal pond located near the northern part of the property allowed for runoff from the impervious sections of the development to be stored and dispersed gradually into the underlying gravels without leaving the site.
